چکیده

An appropriate management and valuation of Pyrenean oak (Quercus pyrenaica Willd.) forests are essential in order to ensure their multiple functions uses. Many coppice have been converted into high mostly due changing demands. This work presents a 20-year study conducted with coppices, providing results from an experimental trial where silvicultural improvement interventions for conversion were applied. In addition control, selective thinning 3-strip 2 × m, 3 6 m (the latter also included thinning) examined. The analyzed tree growth, vertical stratification dynamics, epicormic branching. It was found that the promoted development differently according social crown class. shown significantly different response diameter growth live length, while height has less accentuated. examined temporal effect on growth. Changes position structural characteristics varied among cutting interventions. Regarding branching, revealed number shoots does not differ treatments but shows differences length. Management issues regarding addressed.

Additivity in tree biomass components of Pyrenean oak (Quercus pyrenaica Willd.)

In tree biomass estimations, it is important to consider the property of additivity, i.e., the total tree biomass should equal the sum of the components. This work presents functions that allow estimation of the stem and crown dry weight components of Pyrenean oak (Quercus pyrenaica Willd.) trees. A procedure that considers additivity of tree biomass components is presented, and applied to a pa...

A site model for Pyrenean oak (Quercus pyrenaica) stands using a dynamic algebraic difference equation

This paper presents a growth model for dominant-height and site-quality estimations for Pyrenean oak (Quercus pyrenaica Willd.) stands. The Bertalanffy–Richards function is used with the generalized algebraic difference approach to derive a dynamic site equation. This allows dominant-height and site-index estimations in a compatible way, using any desirable base age and allowing estimations to ...

Taxonomic and Functional Diversity of a Quercus pyrenaica Willd. Rhizospheric Microbiome in the Mediterranean Mountains

Altitude significantly affects vegetation growth and distribution, including the developmental stages of a forest. We used shotgun Illumina sequencing to analyze microbial community composition and functional potential in melojo-oak (Quercus pyrenaica Willd.) rhizospheric soil for three different development stages along an altitudinal gradient: (a) a low altitude, non-optimal site for forest m...
